About Rah Rah Robo

We live in a world of abundance, with more than enough garments already produced to clothe everyone for decades to come.
Americans throw away over 17 million tons of textile waste annually and less than 15% is recycled.
You're ready to have a more meaningful relationship with your wardrobe, one that honors the earth and your personal style.
Hi, I'm Nickey Robo!
I learned to sew over 30 years ago when my mom gave me a tattered copy of a hippie sewing book from the 70's.

As an adult I learned about the human rights and environmental crimes of the fast fashion industry. Looking to divest from the industry as much as possible, I committed to wearing exclusively secondhand or handmade clothes.

And I love Bonnaz embroidery.
I have experimented with a lot of different kinds of fiber arts over the years. I found my calling when I fell deeply in love with Bonnaz embroidery (aka chainstitch embroidery) and purchased a secondhand machine.

Bonnaz embroidery is done on a machine and fully hand-controlled by the operator. Faster than hand embroidery but more organic than computerized embroidery, this style allows quick customization with an artistic flair.

Hire me to come do live embroidery at your next event or shop my selection of one-of-a-kind handmade goods.

Rah Rah Robo creates unique treasures upcycled from secondhand materials - all products include a reuse profile. Love your clothes and love the earth, too.
